You know when you share a link in Facebook or Linked in and there is a blurb and image associated with that link? Open Graph Tags are hidden fields for browsers and google and bots to read. Facebook uses these tags  - if present  - to select the text and image to associated with a shared link.

So if you use Joomla! and want to help control the presentation of your links on Facebook, an addon like this is a superb idea!

Pros

  • Available for Joomla 1.5 & 2.5
  • Fairly easy to configure - has documentation to follow
  • Can manually set tags or automate it from metadata
  • Has editor button
  • Works with a variety of Joomla components - content, k2, virtuemart - to name a few!

Cons

  • Not Available for Joomla 3.0
  • Requires mootools (not a total con - more a notice)

Out of the Box

This took us around 20 mins to set up because we got stuck on the mootools issue and the button in the editor wouldn't show. However the documentation covered this issue so we were up and running before long.

Not using Joomla! (shame on you!) but need Open Graph in your CMS

These look good:
